February Favourites

Hello everyone! I thought I'd update you today with a few things I've been loving this past month. These include beauty, fashion, music, TV etc. 

My first February favourite is simply photographs. I love the idea of being able to capture a single moment in time within a photograph and a few weeks ago I was looking through some old photos from my childhood and it brought back lovely memories for me. I decided to go out and buy a photo album to keep my pictures in and I hope to add loads more too it in the future.

My fashion favourite of the month is my yellow jacket that I recently re-discovered in the depths of my wardrobe amongst a lot of other long forgotten clothes. I think the colour is beautiful and it fits really nicely. It's true when they say yellow is a happy colour and this has got me excited for summer (we just need to get through spring first).

After seeing Taylor Swift looking amazing at the Brit awards recently I decided to try out wearing red lipstick and have totally fallen in love! I usually opt for a nude lip but the red surprisingly suits my skin tone and I don't know why it's take me this long to realise!

The other day while scrolling through Netflix I came across the 1992 version of the classic Wuthering Heights, a film I watched when I was younger with my mum and decided to watch it again. Although it didn't compare to the original 1939 version it was still so good that I decided to include it in my favourites. I suggest reading the book too because it's a lot more detailed. The film is described as 'A tale of love, revenge and heartbreak.'

My final favourite of this month is the TV series, Pretty Little Liars. I can't begin to describe how obsessed I am with this program, it's literally taken over my life! My best friend Mikayla suggested I watch it after I finished Breaking Bad (which is also amazing) and after watching the first few episodes I was hooked. A basic synopsis of the program: 'Set in the fictional town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, the series follows the lives of four girls, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Emily Fields, and Spencer Hastings, whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis. One year later, the estranged friends are reunited as they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure named "A", who threatens to expose their deepest secrets, including ones they thought only Alison knew. At first, they think it's Alison herself, but after her body is found, the girls realize that someone else is planning on ruining their perfect lives.' All I'm going to say is you have to watch it!

The questions:

What is your favourite thing about blogging? Knowing that whatever I'm choosing to write about is reaching people all over the world and they're taking time out of their day to read it and enjoy my blog. It makes me feel really proud.

Do you live by a particular quote? If so which one? Well this is a hard question for me to answer because I have so may quotes that I adore and I could list them off all day but my favourite would have to be "When you seek beauty in all people and all things, you will not only find it; you will become it"

What's the last photo you took on your phone? A shameless selfie from the other day when I went to a Christian Youth meeting.

What do you do that wastes the most time? Well I personally don't see it as a waste of time but others do and that is sitting watching Youtube videos for hours on end. I just really enjoy Vlogs and would love to do it myself one day!

What is your sleeping schedule like? I usually plan to go to sleep around 11pm and end up staying up until about 3am on Tumblr (no shame) and I wake up relatively early, about 8am most days.

Glass half full or half empty? Half full. If you ever think the glass is getting full, you just need a bigger glass.

Who would you most like to be stuck with in a lift and why? If the person could be dead or alive I'd choose my grandma because she passed away in 2008 and I was so close to her, I'd love to spend time with her again.

What has been the best moment of your life so far? Without a doubt, becoming a born again Christian. My life has never been the same and I thank God for that every day.

Is there a post that you've always wanted to write but have been to scared to? Yes, but I just mentioned it in the previous question because I don't want to hide my religion any more and I'm proud of who I am.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be? The ridiculous judgements cast upon people and the impossible standards imposed upon men and women. Be who you want to be.

Are you proud of yourself? Definitely.

Polagram Polaroid Photo Review

Hello everyone! Recently I have been re-decorating my bedroom and I wanted to add a personal touch to my theme. I found an app called Polagram, which takes photos from your phone and turns them into polaroid pictures for you. I thought it would be a really cute idea to hang some up in my room and I ordered 16 of my favourite photos form my iPhone. 

The app itself was so easy to use and explained the process easily. Once you choose the photos you want you can add short messages to the photos and adjust the image so it fits the way you want it to.

At a low cost of only £0.29 a photo and only £1.69 postage, they were a complete bargain! I had no issue with receiving my order and they came quickly. When they arrived I was pleasantly surprised as they were in-cased in a pretty pink envelope and once I opened it I saw the photos looked amazing!

I hung them on my wall and I've had loads of compliments on how nice they look.

Garnier Scrub and Gel Cream

Hello everyone! My second post of the day is about one of my all time favourite brands, Garnier. I've never tried a product of theirs that I haven't liked and I was impressed again when I purchased their Skin natural fresh essential vitamin enriched facial scrub and Body Hydra Express Milk. 

The scrub Purifies & revitalises and is Enriched with citrus and moringa extracts. It works especially well with Dull and tired skin to give you a boost in the morning! 'Wake Me Up Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub eliminates impurities and pollution, leaving your skin feeling perfectly clean and fresh. Its gentle ex-foliating beads unclog pores leaving skin looking brighter and smoother. Enriched with Citrus extract, Wake Me Up Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub is perfect to purify and revitalise your skin' I'm in love with it's citrus smell and how it washes off leaving my skin feeling super nourished.

The Garnier Body Hydra Express Milk enriched with Grape absorbs instantly into your skin and does exactly what it says! Once applied your skin feels really hydrated and refreshed. The only thing I would say is not to apply it to your face as it does sting a little on your face. It is Enriched with L-Bifidus which helps the skin to reinforce its natural protective barrier, It's effects are really long lasting too which is a bonus!

I would highly recommend both these products to anyone and even my brother sometimes steals the hydrating gel from me! In a drug store you could pick these products up for around £3.50-£5 which is really good value for how long lasting they are.

Olay Day & Night Creams

Hello Everyone! I haven't been able to post for a couple of days due to the Christmas rush at work but I'm back today with another skin care post. 

Olay is a worldwide renowned beauty company that expertise in skin care. I decided to pick up their new day and night moisturisers as my skin was looking a bit dull and I wasn't disappointed!

First of all I tried the ' Olay essentials complete care day cream'. It 'is specially designed to give normal and dry skin everything it needs most to help maintain and improve the healthy look of your skin. It contains the essential ingredients your skin needs such as pampering vitamins and nourishing nutrients.' It is also enriched with SP15 to protect your skin from the suns harmful rays. The product packaging is very simple but looks nice and the cream itself is very smooth when applying and doesn't irritate my skin at all. It leaves me feeling refreshed and glowing!

The counter part to the day cream is  the Olay Complete Care Night Enriched Cream for normal/dry/oily skin. 'It works overnight to enhance skin's natural moisture barrier helping to minimise moisture loss the next day & improve the healthy look of your skin.'

Some of the benefits of the night cream:

- Helps to replace moisture lost during the day.

- Non-greasy formula locks moisture into the skin overnight.

- It re-texturises to promote and maintain healthy looking skin.

Just like the day cream the application is smooth and the product is light on your skin. It helps my skin to feel rejuvenated when I wake up in the morning and I love it!

Both these products are inexpensive at around £8-£10 depending on where you purchase them and they compliment each other beautifully.

Would you rather? Beauty Blogger Tag

Hello everyone! Two posts in one day :D Here's another tag and I hope you like it.

Question 1: Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows? I'd rather loose all my palettes and eye shadows because I have a lot of lipsticks and who could go without eyeliner?!

Question 2: Would you rather chop all your hair off or never cut it again? I'd rather chop it all off, even though I'd cry like a baby. Never mind, there's always extensions!

Question 3: Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek? Pink! I have quite pale skin so pink suits my skin tone more.

Question 4: If you had £1000 to spend would you rather buy clothes or make-up? That's a really hard question but it would probably be clothes, as long as that includes shoes. Think of all the shoes!!

Question 5: Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick? Lipstick as eyeliner. I could use a black matte lipstick and nobody would know the difference!

Question 6: Would you only rather shop at MAC or Sephora? I'd have to say Sephora because i'd have more brands to choose from.

Question 7; Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life? One eyeshadow colour. (I could live with brown forever... maybe) My lips always have to be different.

Question 8: Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter? I'd rather wear winter clothes in summer because honestly British summers aren't that hot anyway!

Question 9: Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round? Well I'd have a nude colour, so whatever that comes under.

Question 10: Would you rather give up your favourite lip colour or favourite eye product? Probably my favourite eye product because I couldn't live with out my perfect nude lipstick!

Question 11: Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or messy bun? Messy bun any day.

Question 12: Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss? Never use lip gloss because I'm not about those natural nails.

Question 13: Would you rather shave your eyebrows off and have none or fill them in with a black sharpie pen every day? I think I'd rather have no eyebrows because the sharpie brow is not a good look.

Question 14: Would you rather live without make-up or nail polish? That's easy for me, 100% nail polish!

Blog Your Heart Out Tag

Hello everyone! Even though I wasn't tagged by anyone I still wanted to do this tag since I'm new to blogging and I thought it would help you learn a little more about me! 

There are 5 questions in this tag and  if any of you reading have a blog, I’d love to see you do this tag too.
Question 1: Who/What encouraged you to start blogging? Well I've been an avid YouTube watcher for years and when I discovered people like Zoella and Essie Button had blogs I decided to check them out. I thought it was an amazing way to communicate with other people who share your interests and although I've wanted to start my own blog for ages, now that I've left school I thought it would be the perfect time to start!

Question 2: How did you choose what topics to blog about? It was simple really, I wanted to blog about things I'd like to read as the audience and things that inspire me. As I'm obsessed with all things beauty, fashion and lifestyle I thought it would be an obvious choice.

Question 3: What is something most people don't know about you? It's not something people don't necessarily know but I'm only 5ft 1" and I've been the same height for 4 years! (yes I'm short)

Question 4: What three words would describe your style? Current, Cosy and Cute!

Question 5: What do you love to do when you're not blogging? Watch ALOT of Netflix (I'm obsessed with breaking bad) and watch YouTube, as well as hanging out with friends and family.

All About My Hair

Hello everyone! It's an endless struggle trying to get you hair exactly how you want it. Most people dream of thick, shiny, Rapunzel length locks but don't know how to achieve them. 

Back when I was about 15 I wanted to change up my boring hair (that I had never dyes before) and I saw that alot of celebrities had been sporting the ombre trend and wanted to give it a go.
So with high hopes, I went to my local drugstore and purchased the Loreal preference Wild Ombre hair colouring kit. My cousins girlfriend is a qualified hair dresser so I entrusted her with the task of dying my hair and after an hour or so of bleaching it was done. I was ecstatic with the results and the next day at school I got loads of compliment on it. Everything was well and good until I started to realise the bleach had dried the ends of my hair and it was becoming very weak and straw like.

About 7 months later a few days before my 16th when the ombre had started to fade considerably I re-dyed my hair back to my natural auburn /brown colour. My hair had grown a lot by then and I was happy with the length, but the colour was still not what I wanted and on New Years Eve I decided to go darker (black in fact). My best friend Mikayla helped me dye it in her kitchen ad I remember her saying " oh my God, Lucy, it's so dark!!" but I didn't mind and I absolutely loved it... for around 4 months until I became bored again (yes, I change my mind easily)

 My next idea was a dark blonde and I must say it wasn't the best idea I've ever had! I spend a good few months with the help of many dye kits trying to get my hair to go blonde but it wasn't having any of it and as a result of the messy patchy hair I now had I had no choice but to re- ombre it AGAIN (by this point my hair needed a serious chop and some therapy!) 

By the time prom came around in June of 2014 my ombre had completely faded and although my hair was really long it was so unhealthy that I had no choice but to cut it off, back to it's length when I first dyed it in 2013.

 I was heartbroken but I decided to make it my mission to repair my hair and in the past 6 months I've tried everything, Argan oil, Hair masks, Scalp massaging, leave in treatments and much more! Now in December 2014 nearly 2 years later my hair is so healthy and long and I'm really happy with it. All I really did differently was not dye it, wash it around every 3 days because it's important to let your hair soak in it's natural oils (if you don't like the sound of that you could always try dry shampoo) and lay off the heat because I used to be a styling tool addict! When you're trying to get your hair healthy braids are your best friend! 

I've always had thin hair and it's quite annoying so I am thinking about trying out the 'HairBurst' hair supplements because I've heard so many good reviews about them and hopefully that will thicken up my hair.

Other than that, I'm happy with how my hair looks and feels. It's never been healthier and my top tip would be lay off the bleach!

The Perfect Nude Lip

Hello everyone! I'm aware we've all seen the pictures of Kylie Jenner's perfect pout and felt our self confidence drop to 0 (well I have). So today I'm going to talk about how to achieve the perfect nude lip, similar to Kylie's.

You want to start off by prep-ping your lips by taking a dry tooth brush and rubbing it on them to get  rid of any dead skin cells. Then take some Vaseline and apply to your lips generously.

Before I apply lipstick I always put lip liner on first. If you want your lips to look slightly bigger you should apply the lip liner just under your natural lip line but not so far that it looks like you're imitating a clown. Then repeat this step for the upper lip line making sure to mark out your cupids bow to create definition.

 You could finish here or fill in your lips with the liner to use as a base for the lipstick.

Next, take you're favourite nude lipstick and apply it all over. Making sure there is no gap between the lip liner and the lipstick. Then you're going to want to blot your lips to make sure there is no excess product on your lips.

If you want to stop there you can just add concealer around your lips to touch up any rough edges and you're done!

An optional step is to add some shimmery eye shadow or highlighter to the middle of your lips to add depth.

Affordable Lipsticks

Hello everyone! So every girl loves lipstick, right? But if you're on a budget it can be hard to find some that are reasonably cheap but still good quality. This is why I'm so happy I discovered Avon lipsticks!

For anyone that doesn't know Avon is an American international manufacturer and direct selling company in beauty, household, and personal care categories. (yes, I got that from Wikipedia because I didn't know how to explain it) 

I was flicking through my Avon magazine when I came across the lipstick section and found that they had an amazing range of colours and at only £7.50 each, they are a bargain!

The Avon true colour lipsticks have 3 finishes and I decided to try some of each. I purchased two soft matte colours in Lava Love and Toasted Rose (which is my personal favourite of them all!), three satin finishes in the colours Scarlet Siren, Knock out Pink and Ripe Papaya and finally one shimmer lipstick in the colour Apricot Glamour.

When they arrived I was pleased to see that the product packaging was sturdy but chic and they looked expensive. The shimmer lipstick had different packaging but was still, none the less, beautiful.

The colour pay off of the lipsticks are great and the they last for hours on end, although I would say the soft matte ones would need to be touched up more often.

Overall I was extremely happy with the lipsticks I purchased and would love to try some more Avon products!
